For decades, the UPS industry was tethered to Valve Regulated Lead-Acid (VRLA) batteries. However, as OEM Lithium-Ion Battery UPS Manufacturers, we have seen a paradigm shift. Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) chemistry has emerged as the safest and most efficient choice for high-capacity backup.
A typical VRLA battery provides 300-500 cycles. In contrast, our Li-ion solutions offer 2,000 to 5,000 cycles. This means while a lead-acid battery must be replaced every 3-5 years, a Lithium UPS can last 10-15 years, essentially matching the lifespan of the UPS electronics themselves.
Lead-acid batteries are extremely sensitive to temperature; for every 10°C increase above 25°C, their life is halved. Lithium-ion batteries are much more resilient, operating efficiently at higher temperatures, which reduces the need for aggressive (and expensive) air conditioning in battery rooms.
In regions with unstable grids, the ability to recharge quickly is vital. Li-ion batteries can be charged to 80% capacity in under an hour, whereas VRLA batteries can take 10-20 hours to reach the same level. This ensures the system is ready for the next power outage much sooner.
